Vladimir Kustov
Vladimir Kustov‘s work is based on imagining the unimaginable: death. He mentions himself a ‘necro realist’.

The recent technique used to transform the ashes of a deceased into diamonds, is the basis of Kustov’s new installation ‘Crystallization’.

Kustov shows a series of glass cubes, in which a human figure is floating. In the large painting in this installation the same figure is  seen hovering through space.

Two videoscreens show the selfportrait of the artist, also fixated in a glass cube.

Four paintings make this installation complete. On each of them the so-called ‘magical quadrat’ is painted over a horizon of a calm sea.

Kustov makes his statement on ‘Crystallization’ in his text for HTV de IJsberg.
